It always surprises me what my son can remember ! Late one night while getting ready for bed he is begging me for a smoothie and pancakes ! I promised him that I would make it in the morning. The first thing he says when he jumps on my bed the next morning ….
“Mom! Mom! Can you make me an extra fruity smoothie please!?”
So I threw this smoothie concoction together and it turned out great! It’s tangy from the OJ and filling with two bananas. The berries give it a tart taste and that Maca powder adds essential minerals and amino acids. I think this smoothie is the opposite from the Banana , Kale and Hemp Smoothie I shared last week. The last one has a creamy and milky taste and this one is tart, tangy and fruity !
I am making smoothies even more now because I got a new blender !! ( insert happy dance) It’s not some crazy fancy and expensive one by any means but it WORKS. The blender I was using was so old it only worked half the time. I got it from a friend who didn’t want it anymore almost 10 years ago. It had a good run but now its added to our ever-growing garage sale pile !
I got the Hamiliton Beach Power Elite Multi-Function Blender and I am SUPER happy with it. It breaks up ice quickly, blends smoothies very fast and it comes with an additional glass jar which I have not used yet but will soon. It is crazy how much faster I can make smoothies now with this new blender ! I bought it for myself as a “treat” because I have been working my butt off lately. Another plus of this blender is that it is a heavy glass pitcher where as my last one was plastic. I try to use the least amount of plastic as possible in my kitchen and have been slowly replacing everything with a different material. The pouring spout is pretty genius too. When pouring my smoothie into a glass it doesn’t come out in one chunk and splash everywhere now. It is very easy to clean and overall I am just very happy with this purchase ! Definitely recommend !
So what is this Maca powder anyways? It is from the Maca plant root which has been used as a source of nourishment and healing for thousands of years! This nutrient dense powder is packed with essential vitamins, minerals and amino acids. This powder helps fight fatigue, increases stamina and boosts libido. Sounds good to me ! We recently found this one and are really loving it. It doesn’t have any taste or gritty texture when added to smoothies and it is so easy to just add those amazing nutrients right in to meals. I definitely will be making and sharing many more maca smoothie recipes!
